A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HUI HOʻOLEIMALUŌ
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ITS 12TH ANNUAL WAIULI OCEAN FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, Hui Hoʻoleimaluō is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides opportunities for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) skill building, place-based
learning, and community engagement through the maintenance and management of coastal ecosystems; and
WHEREAS, Hui Hoʻoleimaluō’s Waiuli Ocean Festival is a free community event dedicated to fostering ocean literacy, outdoor recreation and sportsmanship, Hawaiian cultural heritage and
place-based education and stewardship; and
WHEREAS, Hui Hoʻoleimaluō is requesting funds to rent and/or purchase supplies and equipment for the 12th Annual Waiuli Ocean Festival, which will be held on December 17, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide variety of services to meet the needs of the community while maintaining the cultural uniqueness of our
rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to Hui Hoʻoleimaluō to assist with expenses associated with its 12th Annual Waiuli Ocean Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
