G20 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HUI O`OLEIMALU <br /> FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 12TH ANNUAL WAIULI OCEAN FESTIVAL. <br /> WHEREAS, Hui Ho`oleimaluo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to <br /> focus on loko i`a(Hawaiian fishpond) restoration, small-scale community farming, and <br /> providing opportunities for STEAM (science, technology, engineering , arts, and mathematics) <br /> skill building, place-based learning, and community engagement through the maintenance and <br /> management of coastal ecosystems; and <br /> WHEREAS, on December 17, 2022, Hui Ho`oleimaluo will be hosting the 12th Annual <br /> Waiuli Ocean Festival at Richardson Ocean Park and Wai`olena Beach Park; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Waiuli Ocean Festival is a free community event open to the public that <br /> will include surfing and bodyboarding competitions, a bamboo pole fishing tournament, <br /> Makahiki games, Hawaiian cultural booths, a complimentary meal from local food vendors, <br /> entertainment from local artists, a complimentary t-shirt for participants, and a free gift bag for <br /> participating keiki; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hui Ho`oleimaluo is requesting funds to assist with expenses for t-shirts, <br /> gift bags, food, and entertainment for the 12th Annual Waiuli Ocean Festival; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public <br /> and youth programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol-free environment; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hui Ho`oleimaluo for expenses related to the 12th Annual <br /> Waiuli Ocean Festival. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
