It is with pleasure that I support the nomination of IvJargarita Hopkins to fill the position of
Director, Coumy Research and Developmem Departmem. Our association has workod with
Dayl7ay for many years to the mutual benefit of the Big Island Banana (}rowers and the
Cotttrty of Hawaii.
DayDay has always kept up with the industry's problems and successes. She has attended
numerous meetings we have in the evenings, and has an excellent ttttdetstanding of the banana
business. She has overseen three small grants we have received over the years which have
significantly helped our own limited resorees in marketing and now in virus wntrol and
eradication
Beyond what she has done for our specific industry, I believe she has and will use the same
thorough approach to meet the challenges of all the Counties industries with understanding
and her ability to so/lJve problems
