CALL TO The regular meeting of the Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public
ORDER: Safety was called to order at 9:01 a.m., in the Council Chambers, Hilo, by
Mr. Holeka Goro Inaba, Chair.

AWARD TO CAPTAIN RIO AMON-WILKINS, COMMANDER OF THE
AREA 1 CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DIVISION- HAWAI`I POLICE
DEPARTMENT

Motion to Close File: Mr. Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder moved to close file on Comm. 176.20.
Seconded by Ms. Kierkiewicz.

CHR. INABA: Good morning, everyone. Welcome to our November Haweo
Award presentation. This morning we have our `ohana from the Police
Department, our awardee, and if I can call on our Supervisor Major (John) Briski
to please introduce the awardee. And Captain, if you'd come up to the front at
this time as well. And Major Briski, you can just click on the mic and go ahead.
CERTIFICATE OF (Note: At this time,the November 2022 Haweo Award was presented
APPRECIATION: to Captain Rio Amon-Wilkins, Commander of Area 1 Criminal
Investigation Division—Hawai`i Police Department, in recognition of
going above and beyond the call of duty. Major John Briski came forward
and provided statements regarding his exceptional activities in service to
the community. Chair Inaba provided a celebratory Hawaiian Chant.)
CHR. INABA: So with that if we can please present Captain with his lei and
certificate after we take the vote. Okay, there is a motion on the floor to close file
on Communication 176.20. All those in favor, please say "aye."
Vote on Comm. 176.20: The motion to close file on Comm. 176.20 was carried
(Filed) by the following voice vote:
Ayes: Committee Members Chung, David,
Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder Kierkiewicz, Kimball,
Villegas, and Chair Inaba—7.
Noes: None.
Absent: Committee Members Lee Loy and Richards—2.
Excused: None.
