RESOLUTION NO. 14 22
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANTT L LNI
FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES ASSOCIATED T E CHRISTMAS
CARNIVAL.
WHEREAS, Kekelaokalani is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to
provide resources to overcome poverty, help our youth, and promote safety and health for all
families; and
WHEREAS, Kekelaokalani, along with Ka`apuni `Ghana and Team Hilo Prospects,
collaborated with the Department of Parks and Recreation, Hamdkua Recreation District to host
the Christmas Carnival; and
WHEREAS, the Christmas Carnival was a free event for all ages held at the Pdpa`ikou
Gym and Community Center on December 3, 2022, which featured games, prizes, food, and
entertainment; and
WHEREAS, Kekelaokalani is requesting funds for a reimbursement of expenses
associated with prizes,jumping castle, decorations, t-shirts, food, equipment, and supplies; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports developing partnerships
with other recreation providers and community organizations to maximize services and activities
for the public; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(x)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Kekelaokalani for a reimbursement of expenses
associated with the Christmas Carnival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
