A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KEKELAOKALANI FOR
A REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL.
WHEREAS, Kekelaokalani is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide resources to overcome poverty, help our youth, and promote safety and health for all families;
and
WHEREAS, Kekelaokalani, along with Kaʻapuni ʻOhana and Team Hilo Prospects, collaborated with the Department of Parks and Recreation, Hāmākua Recreation District to host the Christmas
Carnival; and
WHEREAS, the Christmas Carnival was a free event for all ages held at the Pāpa‘ikou Gym and Community Center on December 3, 2022, which featured games, prizes, food, and entertainment;
and
WHEREAS, Kekelaokalani is requesting funds for a reimbursement of expenses associated with prizes, jumping castle, decorations, t shirts, food, equipment, and supplies; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports developing partnerships with other recreation providers and community organizations to maximize services and activities for the
public; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to Kekelaokalani for a reimbursement of expenses associated with the Christmas Carnival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
