�;�tYosp,�'' <br /> � Q' <br /> "�� STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII - +_��-''' <����•- ` <br /> E <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 31 23 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH <br /> AND DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD FUNDS TO THE EDITH <br /> KANAKA`OLE FOUNDATION <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Edith Kanaka`ole Foundation, which qualifies as a nonprofit <br /> organization as defined above, will support the KIPA Business Cultural Training <br /> program by training tour operators and businesses to provide accurate and authentic <br /> visitor products and experiences; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research & Development wishes to provide <br /> $90,525 to The Edith Kanaka`ole Foundation; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code, the Department of Research & Development is authorized to provide a grant of <br /> $90,525 to The Edith Kanaka`ole Foundation to provide services as indicated above. <br />
