I am a supporter of the American Job Center Hawaii's move to the Waiakea Kai Shopping Plaza at 88 Kanoelehua Avenue. As a young adult I had received many services from the American Job Center Hawaii and its partners (One- Stop). Through the services provided I was able to graduate with an Equivalency Diploma, learn life skills such as goal setting, creative thinking, and effective communication skills to name a few. With the American Job Center Hawaii and its partners, I was also able to gain the skills and tools required to be self-sufficient and find meaningful employment. The one major downside was that many of its services were spread amongst different locations and required traveling. I had no vehicle and relied heavily on the Hele-On bus and shared ride taxi system. This became a barrier for me as I wasn't able to utilize the full range of services that the American Job Center Hawaii and its partners could provide to me. I believe that this move will allow services to be provided in a single convenient location without the need to travel to other places where American Job Center Hawaii services are provided. Community members will be able to have access to a true One-Stop with an array of services and will require them to only visit one place to receive the help they need or find out more information without traveling between multiple locations. I urge you to support the American Job Center Hawaii and its move to 88 Kanoelehua Avenue as it will be a great service for people in our community. Mahalo, and thank you for your time. No..
