STATE OF HAWAII <br /> 4r�OF•N,N <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 36 2 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII RISE <br /> FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 271h ANNUAL <br /> KWXX HO`OLAULE`A. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Rise Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides <br /> educational services, programs and support for vulnerable, moderate and low-income families, <br /> children and elderly1 and <br /> WHEREAS, KVJXX FM is a radio station that is hosting its 27th Annual KWXX <br /> Ho`olaule`a on January 28, 2023, in downtown Hilo; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Rise Foundation is working with KWXX FM to increase <br /> awareness of the culture and history of Hawaii Island by presenting the annual KWXX <br /> Ho`olaule`a, a free block party featuring live contemporary and traditional music and hula in <br /> downtown Hilo; and <br /> WHEREAS, the annual KWXX Ho`olaule`a is a drug-free and alcohol-free family- <br /> friendly event with numerous stages and entertainers positioned around downtown Hilo that <br /> attracts residents from around the island; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Rise Foundation is requesting funds for security, clean-up <br /> expenses, and traffic safety signage; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide <br /> compliance to liquor laws at drug-free and alcohol-free events; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawaii Rise Foundation to assist with expenses for the 27th <br /> Annual KWXX Ho`olaule`a. <br />
