Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Bill 5,reports as follows:
Bill No. 5, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 20 dated
December 2, 2022, amends Ordinance No. 22-64, as amended, relating to public improvements and
financing thereof for the fiscal year July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
This bill adds the Public Works Kalaniana`ole Avenue Reconstruction-Private project($100,000)to the }
Capital Budget. Funds for this project shall be provided from Private Contributions.
Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba asked Public Works' Director Steve Pause for a brief overview
on what these funds are for. Mr. Pause clarified that this was an agreement with Hawaii Gas to protect
its fuel lines during the course of the Kalaniana`ole Avenue reconstruction.
Ms. Sako provided that this is resolution is for accounting purposes and to show that Hawaii Gas did
reimburse the county for work done to protect their pipes.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 5, and recommends its
passage on first reading.
