Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a donation of up to ten pallet shelter units from the
County of Maui, 200 S. High Street, Kalana O Maui Bldg. 9th Floor, Wailuku, HI
96793. These shelter units, valued at approximately $70,000, will be used by the Office
of Housing and Community Development as emergency shelters to address
homelessness.

RE: RESOLUTION No. 39-23 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF UP TO TEN(10) PALLET SHELTER UNITS
FOR THE OFFICE OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.

Request to prepare a resolution to accept a donation of up to ten#0)pallet shelter units from the County of
Maui, Hawai'i to be used for emergency shelter housing.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The County of Maui is donating up to ten (10) of its pallet shelter units to the County of Hawai'i. The Office
of Housing and Community Development will be using these units for emergency shelter units to address
homelessness. The individual value of each pallet shelter is$7,000.00.

Once approved, the Office of Housing and Community Development will work with the assigned Maui
personnel to coordinate delivery to a designated harbor on the Island of Hawaii.
