STATE OF HAWAI‘I
RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF UP TO TEN (10) PALLET SHELTER UNITS FOR THE OFFICE OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, the County of Maui is donating up to ten (10) pallet shelter units, valued at approximately $70,000 to the Office of Housing and Community Development; and
WHEREAS, these shelter units will be used as emergency shelters to address homelessness; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities,
or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Housing and Community Development recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a)
of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawai‘i accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to the Office of the Mayor, County of Maui, 200 S. High Street, Kalana O Maui Bldg. 9th Floor,
Wailuku, HI 96793.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, Office of Housing and Community Development, and
the Finance Department.
