Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Resolution No. 30-23, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 30-23, transmitted by Director of Finance Deanna S. Sako via Communication
No. 37, dated December 2, 2022, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement
with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General.
This resolution allows for the receipt of$75,000, which would be used to cover overtime
expenses incurred by multi-agency law enforcement to follow-up on persons ordered by the
court to surrender firearms.
Pursuant to Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes and Section 13-13 of the Hawaii
County Charter, the Mayor is authorized to apply for, receive, and expend the funds for contracts
with private parties, other Counties, the State, or the United States government for functions or
activities which the County is authorized to perform.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Resolution No. 30-23, and recommends its adoption.
