A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PŪLAMA ĪA KONA HERITAGE
PRESERVATION COUNCIL TO ASSIST WITH EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES FOR ITS 1925 MONUMENT RESTORATION PROJECT IN HŌLUALOA.
WHEREAS, the Pūlama Īa Kona Heritage Preservation Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that preserves, protects, and enhances the special qualities of Kona, and provides information
on preservation of historic places and sites; and
WHEREAS, the 1925 Monument Restoration Project in Hōlualoa is one of the last publicly accessible structures of 30 small temples and Shinto shrines that once existed and is now being
restored by Pūlama Īa Kona Heritage Preservation Council before its inscriptions are irreparably destroyed; and
WHEREAS, Pūlama Īa Kona Heritage Preservation Council is requesting funds to assist with expenses for its educational website, mobile application, and materials and supplies to increase
community access to the monument’s historic information; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that promote positive, character-building projects in a drug- and alcohol-free environment, such as Pūlama Īa
Kona Heritage Preservation Council’s 1925 Monument Restoration Project; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Pūlama Īa Kona Heritage Preservation Council to assist with expenses for its 1925 Monument Restoration Project in Hōlualoa.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
