Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Communication No. 55, reports as follows:
Communication No. 55, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated January 5, 2023, requests
the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Desmon Haumea to the Hawaii
County Cultural Resources Commission.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome, was present with Mr. Haumea in the
Hilo Chambers and introduced the nominee via videoconference.
Pursuant to Chapter 2, Section 2-226(b) of the Hawaii County Code, members of the Hawaii
County Cultural Resources Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of
the Council.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Communication No. 55, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of
Desmon Haumea to the Hawaii County Cultural Resources Commission.
