i +T''i Nw Mo�•� COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII ,yE Oi•NAd RESOLUTION NO. 55 23 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BIG ISLAND MEDIATION, INC., FOR ITS PEER MEDIATION PROGRAM. WHEREAS, Big Island Mediation, Inc., doing business as West Hawaii Mediation Center, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower individuals, organizations, and communities to deal with conflict by providing mediation, facilitation, and education services; and WHEREAS, Big Island Mediation, Inc., is partnering with various schools to reduce conflict through safe, youth-centered conflict resolution, and developing life skills to navigate conflict in healthy ways; and WHEREAS, Big Island Mediation, Inc., has requested financial assistance to defray the costs for supplies and training materials necessary to support its Peer Mediation Program; and WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports the services provided by Big Island Mediation, Inc., as it fails within its program goals and objectives for domestic and family violence prevention and intervention initiatives; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District I will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Big Island Mediation, Inc., for its Peer Mediation Program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
