Re: Operating Budget
In the current Budget Ordinance 22-63, $480,000 is appropriated in the Kua Bay Grant
account and $919,103 is appropriated in the Hapuna Beach Grant account. Additional
state funds in the amount of$176,402 are being provided by the State of Hawaii
Department of Land and Natural Resources to be used for costs associated with Kua Bay
and Hapuna Beach ocean safety.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these
additional funds into the Fire Department's Kua Bay - State Grant account,bringing the
total appropriation to $580,000 and into the Hapuna Beach - State Grant account,
bringing the total appropriation to $995,505.

A. REQUEST:
To appropriate additional funds for the Kua Bay MOA, West Hawaii Ocean Safety.
Fire would like to request to waive Finance Committee and have the bill placed on the February 22,2023 Council
agenda.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Requesting an additional appropriation of$100,000 to the revenue and expenditure accounts for the Kua
Bay fund, for a total appropriation of$580,000 for the fiscal year 2023.
An appropriation of$480,000 is budgeted under Ordinance 22-63, so we would like to increase the revenue
appropriation in 010.3306.23 - Kua Bay by $100,000.
We would also like to increase the expenditure appropriation in 010.221.6228.26 by $100,000.
