Subject: Testimony on 2/7/23 Agenda item COM. 72: nomination of Myles Miyasato to
Windward Planning Commission
Aloha Council Members,
I wish to share my opposition and concerns regarding Mayor Roth's nomination of Miles Miyasato to the WPC.
The WPC needs commissioners that will respect and represent the residents of the Hamakua, and in particular those
community members of the CDP committee who worked for years to develop a COMMUNITY Development Plan that
DOES represent the residents and their priorities, concerns, and best interest.
1 am deeply disappointed in the numerous efforts and actions by Mayor Roth and Planning Director Zendo Kern-to
sideline, undermine, and reject the CDPs and those who invested hours and years to develop them in an opo,
democratic manner to suit community needs and interests.
Mr. Miyasoto has demonstrated, and appears to have the same intent. As such he is not suitable for this position.
