Aloha Council members,
Please support Bill 22. 1 also ask that you consider some additions or changes to the bill to help insure that animals are
humanely taken care of and that rightful and new owners are found for those who stray including:
Giving at least 7 days care of animal until rightful owner is found. I'm a lost animal magnet with
good and bad results when it comes to finding the owner. One awful time, I found the owner, but
the pet was put down as soon as it came to the West Hawaii shelter. Auwe.
Reducing unwanted breeding with low-cost spay and neuter programs.
Introducing widespread education to help people learn how to be responsible pet owners.
Use alternatives to euthanizing animals wherever and whenever possible.
Insure that animals aren't shipped to the mainland to end up being used in scientific experiments.
Create an oversight committee with a rep from each district to make sure rules are
being administered and as a conduit for shared information from other districts and organizations.
Mahalo for supporting the strongest, most broadly-reaching legislation to help protect our furry friends from spreading
unnecessarily and from facing unnecessary harm.

Aloha,
You'll be hearing from other members of the community regarding animal control. I support this bill as a good start to
protecting animals, and I support the bill with the caveat that the new agency will income humane control measures
such as spay and neutering and adoptions which would help make the humanity of control more likely.
