Aloha- Please support Bill 194, which ensures that conditions of rezoning are met in the agreed time frame and if they
are not, that the County Council rather than the Planning Director has the authority to grant an initial time extension for the
completion of these conditions. In the case of initial time extension requests, the developer would need to prove to the
Council that conditions were not completed due to unforeseen circumstances outside the developer's control. Bill 194 will
ultimately allow public input and accountability to ensure responsible development on our island moving forward.
For decades, Hawaii County has seen development projects that promise certain benefits to the community, however,
these benefits do not come to fruition as was intended and required by the change or zone ordinance that established
them.
