Aloha Chair Ashley Kierkieweiz, Co-Chair Dr. Holeka Goro Inaba, and the Council Members of the Policy
Committee on Planning, Land Use, and Development
I am in strong support of Bill 194. If rezoning permits are not met in the time frame agreed,the County Council
rather than the Planning Director has the authority to grant an initial time extension for the completion of these
conditions. The developer must prove to the Council that conditions were not completed due to unforeseen
circumstances outside the developer's control in the initial extension request. This Bill would allow public
input and accountability which is critical to guarantee responsible development on our precious island of
Hawai`i.
