Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Bill No. 17, reports as follows:
Bill No. 17,transmitted by Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba,via Communication No. 68 dated
January 12, 2023, amends Chapter 19, Article 12, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as
amended),relating to Real Property Tax Appeals.
This bill amends Section 19-100 and repeals Section 19-101 to make the $50 deposit required for each
appeal by a taxpayer to the County of Hawaii Board of Review nonrefundable.
Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba provided some background on this measure.
Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder thanked Mr. Inaba for bringing this forward.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 17, and recommends its
passage on first reading.
