Subject: I support Bill 194
Aloha, I want to offer my testimony in support of Bill 194. 1 appreciate
the idea of granting the legislative branch authority to issue extntins
for permits.
Although I understand the idea of the planning commission to be a kind
f executive office that may have a lot of expertise, the legislative branch
will be able to hear directly from constituents how the projects are
affecting them. As long as people are contacting their councilmember
on this issue, it will grant a lot more democratic input about the
commercial development of their island home. Ideally, the legislative
branch will use this authority in a republican manner by working directly
with the planning committee while weighing out testimony for
constituents.
