Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Communication No. 71, reports as follows:
Communication No. 71, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated January 20, 2023,
requests the Council's review and confirmation of the reappointment of Kelly Valenzuela to the
Board of Ethics.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome was present in the Council Chambers
and introduced Ms. Valenzuela, who was also present in Chambers.
Pursuant to Article 14, Section 14-5(a) of the Hawai`i County Charter, the Board of Ethics shall
be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Communication No. 71, and recommends confirmation of the reappointment of
Kelly Valenzuela to the Board of Ethics.
