Aloha Council Members,
I am writing in regards to Bill 18 that was introduced by Council member Heather Kimball and Holeka Inaba. I urge every
single Council Member to oppose the Bill specifically the Preference of(c) (1)(A): For up to ten percent of County
funded affordable units first preference shall be given to income eligible employees of the Countv or State of Hawaii.
Why would the preference be given to County/State employees over us,the public? Do you think we don't work
hard? Do you think many of us only have one job? Some may say the County wants to be able to attract better qualified
employees. If that is the case, offer a more competitive salary, not taking the benefits away from us,the public. County
and State employees already get much better benefits than the public(pension, 21 days of vacation &21 days of sick
leaves each year).
This preference is why people think politics are corrupt. I again urge you to please oppose and remove this preference.
