I urge the Council to vote "NO" the Bill, specifically the Preference of(c) (1) (A): For up to ten percent of County-funded affordable units, first preference shall be given to income eligible employees of the County or State of Hawai'i. Income eligibility should be the only criteria. Government employees should not be treated a special class given preference over the general public. Government employees already have benefits that are much better that the general public who often have to make ends meet by having multiple jobs with no benefits. The public has come to expect that our county government is not working for them but for themselves and their own families and this is an abuse of public trust.
