Aloha Council Chair Kimball and Council Members:
I am pleased to nominate Laura Acasio of District 2, to the Environmental Management
Commission.
Ms. Acasio has been a resident of Hawai`i for 28 years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree
in Geography from the University of Hawai`i, Manoa, and recently served as the State of
Hawai`i Senator for District 1. She is currently a substitute and part-time teacher for the
Department of Education.
Ms. Acasio has an extensive volunteer background, serving as a Government and Legislative
liaison to the Hui `Oihana Hawai`i Island Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce. She is also a
member of the Chamber of Sustainable Commerce, Rotary Club International, and Ka `Umeke
Ka`eo Public Charter School. If confirmed, she will serve a term ending December 31, 2025.
