COUNTY OF HAWAII :.:, ` i,.� STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. Gs 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KONA ALOHA <br /> SINGERS TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS REHEARSALS AND CONCERT <br /> PERFORMANCES IN KONA. <br /> WHEREAS, Kona Aloha Singers is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose goal is to <br /> enrich the cultural life of the community through its open rehearsals, concert performances, and <br /> special events in the Kona area; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kona Aloha Singers is a chorus group made up of volunteers that perform <br /> an array of music genres from the 1960s to present, singing in four-part harmony (soprano, alto, <br /> tenor, and bass) at community concerts and special events; and <br /> WHEREAS, each Thursday evening, Kona Aloha Singers conducts rehearsals that are <br /> open to the public for its enjoyment and to all adults and high school students interested in <br /> becoming a member of the chorus group; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kona Aloha Singers is requesting funds to assist with purchasing sound <br /> equipment, sheet music, concert attire, and other miscellaneous materials and supplies for its <br /> song rehearsals and concert performances; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br /> promote positive, character-building projects in a drug- and alcohol-free environment, such as <br /> the rehearsals and concert performances of Kona Aloha Singers; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Kona Aloha Singers to assist with expenses for its rehearsals <br /> and concert performances in Kona. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
