HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 067 Draft 01 2022-2024A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT GROUP TO ASSIST WITH THE ‘ŌLA‘A SKATE PARK, PHASE 2.
WHEREAS, Grassroots Community Development Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strengthens our communities through cooperative development of programs and services; and
WHEREAS, Grassroots Community Development Group is assisting the County with the development and maintenance of the ‘Ōla‘a Skate Park at Kurtistown Park; and
WHEREAS, to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) at Kurtistown Park, Grassroots Community Development Group will construct an accessible walkway from the exit of the
park to the entrance to ‘Ōla‘a Skate Park; and
WHEREAS, Grassroots Community Development Group is requesting funds for building materials and supplies (asphalt, plywood, and concrete) to construct an ADA compliant walkway linking
the Kurtistown Park and ‘Ōla‘a Skate Park; and
WHEREAS, partnering with a nonprofit organization to build a skate park falls within the Department of Parks and Recreation’s goal to pursue help from persons and groups to improve and
maintain recreational facilities and enhance programs; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to Grassroots Community Development Group to assist with the ‘Ōla‘a Skate Park, Phase 2 at Kurtistown Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
