STATE OF HAWAI‘I
RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION CREATING FORTY-FIVE (45) NEW POSITIONS FOR THE NEW ANIMAL CONTROL AND PROTECTION AGENCY
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai‘i is creating the new Animal Control and Protection Agency to provide for the establishment and maintenance of County pounds and to provide animal control
services; and
WHEREAS, the Animal Control and Protection Agency is in need of forty-five (45) new positions, as specified in Exhibit A, to form the new entity; and
WHEREAS, these positions are necessary to fulfill the functions and requirements of Hawai‘i Revised Statutes chapter 143 and chapter 711 in relation to the protection of animals, and
chapter 4 of the Hawai‘i County Code; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawai‘i County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to “Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council...”;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that forty-five (45) positions be created in the Animal Control and Protection Agency.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Office of Management, the Finance Department, the Police Department, and the Department of Human Resources.
