Subject: Windward planning nominees aren't the right choices

Aloha council members,
I understand that it's very difficult to say"no"to a community member who's willing to serve on a commission,
especially if there aren't a slew of candidates to choose from (though I have no idea if that's true in this case). I'm
concerned, however, because of concerns of trusted East Hawai'i community advocates that the two nominees which
the mayor has brough forward to serve on our most powerful volunteer body aren't the right people for this critical job.
Questions put to Ms Perrin by council members provided needed insight and helped me see why my colleagues are
concerned with her potential appointment.Through that information as well as community conversations regarding
both candidates, I feel both she and Mr Miyasato should be passed over at this time and the mayor asked to bring forth
new nominees that better suit the goals and views of the communities they are going to be representing and serving.
