Aloha Chair Kimball and Members of the Hawaii County Council,
My name is T.George Paris, Managing Director of the Ironworkers Stabilization Fund and I am
submitting this written testimony in strong support of Communication 73,the nomination of Chantel
Perrin to the Windward Planning Commission.
As a "masa wahine"and a mother of twelve children, Chantel brings many important perspectives to
the Windward Planning Commission,and she brings"gender equity"to the commission which is key in
making sure a balanced decision is rendered by the commission.
Aa working mother all her life,with twelve children,Chantel knows and understands the struggles of
everyday families in Hawaii. She understands what it's like to live paycheck-to-paycheck and not
knowing how her family was going to make ends meet. She understands the opportunities available to
working families are slowly dwindling and local families are leaving the state to seek better
opportunities elsewhere.
Furthermore,Chantel has a diverse resume such as working at a development and construction
company,which gives hera valuable understanding of construction and planning issues needed to be a
member on the Planning Commission and as an employee at a community service organization
dedicated to childcare needs,which gives her an in-depth understanding of the obstacles facing Hawaii's
families. Chantel's diversity highlights her ability to quickly learn and adapt to the responsibilities
required of her. -
I strongly believe that Chantel is more than qualified to sit on the Planning Commission. She will quickly
grow to meet the demands and responsibilities required of her as a commissioner. I respectfully request
that you support and confirm her nomination to the Windward Planning Commission.
