A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HALE MUA CULTURAL
GROUP TO PURCHASE YEARBOOKS FOR EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS AT KEALAKEHE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL.
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to preserving and perpetuating Native Hawaiian culture and collaborating with groups that
restore and maintain historical sites and offer educational programs; and
WHEREAS, Kealakehe Intermediate School serves approximately 680 students, and the State of Hawai‘i has determined that it is a “Title I” school with 73.08% of its students belonging
to low-income households in the 2022-2023 school year; and
WHEREAS, this will be the last year for the eighth grade students at Kealakehe Intermediate School, and many of their families may not be able to afford purchasing a yearbook for them;
and
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is requesting funds to purchase yearbooks for the eighth grade students at Kealakehe Intermediate School to ensure that each family is able to obtain
the captured and most memorable moments of intermediate school life for their child; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that promote youth education or activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Hale Mua Cultural Group to purchase yearbooks for eighth grade students at Kealakehe Intermediate School.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
