RESOLUTION NO. 86 23
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION T
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GOING NOME
HAWAII FOR ITS 2023 REENTRY SUMMIT.
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission
is to assist justice-involved men, women, and youth on Hawaii Island with reintegration into
community life through employment, education,training, housing, and supportive services; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i's 2023 Reentry Summit intends to convene a broad
spectrum of stakeholders to educate attendees and determine how they may work collaboratively
to provide strategies and leverage state, local, and federal funding streams to assist more justice-
involved individuals with their re-integration into the community; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawaii is requesting funds to help pay for expenses to
include planning, creation of educational materials, and work materials for the breakout room
instructors; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to support
programs that improve the criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working
collaboratively with other criminal justice agencies and the community by employing early
intervention initiatives to improve the quality of life on Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Going Home Hawaii for its 2023 Reentry Summit.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transferred/appropriated the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
