A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO EQUALITY HI TO ASSIST
WITH PURCHASING FOOD FOR A YOUTH SUMMER THEATER CAMP.
WHEREAS, Equality HI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to proactively engage in creating an inclusive and diverse Queer community through aloha, leadership, resources,
services, and education; and
WHEREAS, Equality HI has partnered with Hilo Education Arts Repertory Theatre (HEART) to host a Youth Summer Theater Camp at the end of May 2023; and
WHEREAS, Equality HI is providing outreach to different organizations to ensure that low-income youth have an opportunity to participate in the Youth Summer Theater Camp; and
WHEREAS, Equality HI is requesting funds to assist with purchasing healthy snacks and food for the youth who will be attending the Summer Theater Camp, as many of whom may be low-income
and in need of food assistance; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide a diversified recreation program that addresses the needs and interests of the respective communities
in a safe environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to Equality HI to assist with purchasing food for the HEART Youth Summer Theater Camp.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
