i <br /> COUNTY <br /> T T <br /> lJ HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> i <br /> r <br /> $ri pF•µPyl <br /> RESOLUTION N <br /> 3 <br /> 3 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE MEN OF A`A <br /> FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 2023 BRUDDAH KUZ <br /> YOUTH JAM EVENT, <br /> I <br /> WHEREAS, the Men of Pa`a, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, empowers and enables <br /> Native Hawaiians through the process of Ho`okanaka, a culturally-rooted, communally-relevant <br /> process of personal change catalyzed by servant leadership; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Men of Pa`a, in collaboration with Bruddah Kuz, Kauhale Kanaka O <br /> Puna, and team members of the Hawaii County Youth Resilience Capacity Area, supported <br /> placemaking initiatives to bring the community together for the 2023 Bruddah Kuz Youth Jamm <br /> event that was held on April 1, 2023, in the heart of Pahoa Village; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Bruddah Kuz Youth Jamm was a community-led event that focused on <br /> empowering youth and building social cohesion through live music, food, art, and makahiki <br /> festivities; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Men of Pa`a is requesting a grant for a reimbursement of expenses <br /> related to the 2023 Bruddah Kuz Youth Jamm event, which may include refreshments for <br /> volunteers, signs and banners, office supplies, fuel costs, insurance, security, musician fees, and <br /> stipends for various service providers; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free <br /> events that enrich the lives of community members; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Men of Pa`a for a reimbursement of expenses related to <br /> the 2023 Bruddah Kuz Youth Jamin event. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
