...Aloha! I have come to realize that with the crisis we have in our animal rescue arena and no help or change in
sight, I'm not sure if I will be able to continue in rescue, doing this lost and found page and helping my community.
For years, I've watched a decline in animal welfare services, and we can all agree that this is the absolute WORST it's
ever been()
With Bill 22 coming up to establish a new Animal Control Agency, and the County Council getting ready to pass it
without the recommendations from the community who have LIVED THROUGH THIS NIGHTMARE, and the COUNTY
WHO CONTINUES to ignore the testimonies from the community feeders, others, and the recommendations from a few
of us who live this nightmare DAILY, I cannot volunteer anymore of my time helping my beloved community. I've fallen
behind in my commitments to my nonprofit youth outreach, I've had to pull a loan to pay vet bills for my own rescues
and helping outreach folks with their vet bills, including humane euthanasia, surgeries, food and so forth.
If Bill 22 passes as is without the recommendations that took hours and hours to research, compile and testify to the
County Council what needs to CHANGE, I will have to sadly step out of the rescue arena.0%
CHANGE NEEDS TO COME AND IT STARTS WITH YOU! PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR TESTIMONY TO THE COUNTY COUNCIL BY
TUES, MARCH 7, 2023 AT 12 NOON. YOU MUST SPEAK UP! WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOUR VOICES AND CONCERNS
BEING HEARD.**

!!! YOU ARE THE VOICE OF THE ANIMALS
—LET IT BE LOUD!!!
Since the second hearing on Bill 22 is on March 8th, we need to give
testimony, asking for a hard commitment for
--humane animal population management including spay/neuter,
--Transparency in all shelter operations activities and budget
--reinstitute the Shelter Activity Report monthly, and
--an oversight committee-ongoing, not just a "taskforce"to help create
the responsibilities, the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and
policies, but true oversight to rebuild trust and ensure transparency.
Anything less is BS.The animals deserve more after 35 years of
uncontrolled killing. Email testimony due by NOON, March 7 to
counciltestimony@hawaiicounty.gov.
