My name is Antu Harvey. I am the Executive Director of Pulama is Kona Heritage Council (501(c)3 founded in .994 afi`tl this project's manager. Your support will help this project: • Save the 1925 masonry roadside marker for the`Shikoku 88 Temples Pilgrimage'in Holualoa next to the stream and Holualoa Elementary School, • Preserve an extant link to the stories* of Japanese immigrants in Kona and their experiences before and after the 1942- Executive Order 9066. There were over 30 Daishi-do and Shinto shrines in the Holualoa area before WWII when most were demolished. Now,this is the only known surviving structure of its kind. • Build community by bringing together new and faithful volunteers and donors to help save the monument, and towards the end of the project, set up a management/maintenance plan to help ensure this monument survives, is cared for and is recognized for another hundred years. *The project includes designing and installing an interpretive sign with a QR code that links to historic mobile walking tours on our website, Pulama.org and theClio.org(the walking tours are a separate 2023 project). These additional funds will help ensure we can complete this Monument project on time and to the original scope and quality planned. Mahalo nui loa for your commitment and service to our 8 district community.
