Aloha, members of our Hawai'i County Council,
I am testifying in support of receiving funding for educational-related costs for Pulama Ia Kona's monument.
Pulama requests $5,000 to fund the project's educational portion, including its nomination to the Hawaii
Register of Historic Places and interpretive signage at the monument. Historic Hawaii supports this project
and has awarded us a grant.Additional funds are needed. We appreciate your time, consideration, and support
of our funding request to help shape a more thoughtful narrative in our community and future generations.
It is important that we preserve this landmark monument as it is part of Hawaii's history for now and for
generations to come.To know who and where we come from. Being a Native Hawaiian with Japanese ancestry,
I feel the restoration of such a monument supports the symbolism that we as a melting pot of people in Hawaii
are as well as the traumas that have been endured and since grown upon. Please support this restoration
project through your financial funding.
Me ka haahaa,
