Aloha Council Members,
• My parents wrote a testimony for Bill 18 for the February committee hearing. Today I'm writing to you and urge you to
oppose Bill 18 specifically on giving preference to County and state workers on county funded projects.
Please ask yourself where do county gets the funding from? Is it from tax payers like me and my parents? Why are you
trying to take away those benefits from us?
Council member Heather Kimball said that is to try to attract workers to work at the county. Do you think only county
has problem hiring workers? You don't think local businesses have the problem hiring workers? I personally believe
Heather Kimball is trying to implement something that is self serving, and it is shameful for her or anyone who agrees to
that! She mentioned in the last council meeting that Santa Clara County uses the same preference. I did some research
and could not find anything like that. I understand if she wants to give preference to skilled workers like teachers/law
enforcement/fire fighters(such as 231 Grant Avenue in Palisades Alto) but her bill is so general and specify
nothing. That preference should be in the dumpster fire, not just kitchen sink.
Did you ask for public opinions about this preference? I assure you most public will not be ok with it.
I urge you to remove this preference from Bill 18.
