A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE MEN OF PAʻA
FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 2023 BRUDDAH KUZ YOUTH JAMM EVENT.
WHEREAS, the Men of Paʻa, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, empowers and enables Native Hawaiians through the process of Hoʻokanaka, a culturally-rooted, communally-relevant process
of personal change catalyzed by servant leadership; and
WHEREAS, the Men of Paʻa, in collaboration with Bruddah Kuz, Kauhale Kanaka O Puna, and team members of the Hawai‘i County Youth Resilience Capacity Area, supported placemaking initiatives
to bring the community together for the 2023 Bruddah Kuz Youth Jamm event that was held on April 1, 2023, in the heart of Pāhoa Village; and
WHEREAS, the Bruddah Kuz Youth Jamm was a community-led event that focused on empowering youth and building social cohesion through live music, food, art, and makahiki festivities;
and
WHEREAS, the Men of Paʻa is requesting a grant for a reimbursement of expenses related to the 2023 Bruddah Kuz Youth Jamm event, which may include refreshments for volunteers, signs
and banners, office supplies, fuel costs, insurance, security, musician fees, and stipends for various service providers; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free events that enrich the lives of community members; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Men of Paʻa for a reimbursement of expenses related to the 2023 Bruddah Kuz Youth Jamm event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
