In case you can not read the PDF,the text of the letter is included below my signature line. Mahalo Nui, Su Champeny Wai'uli We Count Project Coordinator nx, ---STA RT--- March 21, 2023 Aloha e Chair Kimball and County of Hawaii Councilors, I am writing in support of Res. 60-23: funding a Conservation Easement purchase for the loko i'a known as Kaumaui near the Wai'olena County Park. I have collaborated with members of the Hui Ho'oleimaluo for more than a year. I have also personally witnessed their careful and thoughtful stewardship of the Honokea loko i'a at Wai'uli/Richardsons Ocean Park and testify that they have the capacity and willingness to care for more of our precious shoreline fishery and limu habitat. I am currently the project coordinator for the year-old Wai'uli We Count Project, a community-driven effort to measure human impact on our shoreline parks and reef. Hui Ho'oleimaluo has generously supported and advised the project from its very beginning, and continues to do so to this day. It is a privilege and an honor to work with this amazing team that brings sustainable practices, indigenous knowledge and stewardship to our wai, kai, and 'aina. Mahalo Nui Loa, Comm. 3 122.
