A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ‘O KA‘Ū KĀKOU FOR
ITS FAMILY FUN FEST AND INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, ‘O Ka‘ū Kākou (OKK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that sponsors and supports community activities in the district of Ka‘ū that enhance the quality of life for keiki,
kupuna, and businesses; and
WHEREAS, OKK coordinated its Family Fun Fest with an Independence Day celebration set for July 1, 2023, in Nā‘ālehu, featuring inflatable water slides and bouncy castles for the keiki,
and bingo for the seniors; and
WHEREAS, OKK will provide hot dogs, watermelon, and shave ice for everyone as well as hamburgers, ice cream sundaes, and prizes for every senior; and
WHEREAS, OKK is requesting funds to assist with permits, insurance, food, drinks, and other costs directly related to this event; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this event as it is in alignment with the goals of the department to promote safe and healthy community activities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to ‘O Ka‘ū Kākou for expenses related to its Family Fun Fest and Independence Day Celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
