A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
HURTS ANIMALS AND PEOPLE FOR ITS DOGHOUSE PROGRAM AT KEALAKEHE HIGH SCHOOL IN WEST HAWAI‘I.
WHEREAS, Domestic Violence Hurts Animals and People “DVHAP” is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to promote, educate, and eliminate domestic violence toward animals
and people through awareness campaigns, public policy action, and educational programs; and
WHEREAS, Kealakehe High School’s Woodshop Class is participating with DVHAP’s Doghouse Program to construct doghouses for distribution to the community; and
WHEREAS, DVHAP is requesting funds to purchase materials and supplies such as lumber, roofing material, concrete, screws, and other items related to the construction of the doghouses;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that promote youth education or activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Domestic Violence Hurts Animals and People for its Doghouse Program at Kealakehe High School in West Hawai‘i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
