A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HŌLUALOA FOUNDATION
FOR ARTS AND CULTURE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS DONKEY MILL ART CENTER EXHIBITION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Hōlualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides art programs and education for children and adults of all ages and abilities
at the Donkey Mill Art Center in Kona; and
WHEREAS, the Donkey Mill Art Center is a community art center serving the West Hawai‘i community and local schools through hands-on classes, exhibitions, and events showcasing contemporary
arts, crafts, and culture; and
WHEREAS, the Hōlualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture is requesting funds to assist with expenses for programs and exhibition supplies such as framing, painting, carpentry, and artist-led
youth workshops related to the Donkey Mill Art Center Exhibition Program; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public and youth programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol-free environment, such
as the Donkey Mill Art Center Exhibition Program; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Hōlualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture to assist with expenses for its Donkey Mill Art Center Exhibition Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
