A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ‘O KA‘Ū KĀKOU FOR
ITS NĀ‘ĀLEHU RESILIENCE HUB.
WHEREAS, ‘O Ka‘ū Kākou (OKK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that sponsors and supports community activities in the district of Ka‘ū that enhance the quality of life for keiki,
kupuna, and businesses; and
WHEREAS, COVID-19 has severely impacted the County of Hawai‘i, with many households still experiencing food insecurity; and
WHEREAS, OKK is producing fruits and vegetables for meals from the farm they created for the purpose of a food source; and
WHEREAS, OKK has been providing meals three times per week to those in need and is requesting funds to assist with paper goods, supplies, and protein for meals; and
WHEREAS, this program falls within the mission of the Department of Research and Development to enhance the standard of living for residents in Hawai‘i County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to ‘O Ka‘ū Kākou for expenses related to its Nā‘ālehu Resilience Hub.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
