RESOLUTION CREATING ONE (1) NEW WATER SAFETY OFFICER V AND ONE NEW (1) CLERK III POSITION FOR THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, County of Hawaiʻi was awarded funding from the State of Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources to be used for costs associated with Kua Bay and Hapuna Beach ocean
safety; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department is in need of one (1) new Water Safety Officer V position and one (1) new Clerk III position to properly support the Fire Department’s Ocean Safety Operations
Branch; and
WHEREAS, the grants will provide partial funding for the salary of the Water Safety Officer V position and full funding of the Clerk III position; and
WHEREAS, the positions indicated above are Water Safety Officer V, SR-26 and Clerk III, SR-10 positions; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawai‘i County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to “Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council...”;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that one (1) new Water Safety Officer V position and one (1) new Clerk III position be created in the Hawai‘i County Fire Department.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of Management, the Fire Department, the Department of Human
Resources and the Department of Finance.
