RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $26,000 TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAIʻI POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Island K9 Association is donating $26,000 to the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to purchase Scentlogix synthetic training aids for the Police Department’s Narcotic Canines and to replace kennels, gates, and fences associated with
canine shelters at the Kealakehe Police Station; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities,
or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a)
of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawai‘i accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Police Department, the Department of Finance, and the Office Management.
