STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 98 23 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOMELESS TASK FORCE FOR ITS OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS. WHEREAS, Homeless Task Force is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide outreach and engagement services to address homelessness in our community; and WHEREAS, outreach and engagement are essential services that inform and connect our un-housed population on safe haven options for housing, drug and alcohol rehabilitation services, and family reunification; and WHEREAS, Homeless Task Force in collaboration with social services organizations, the Hawai`i Police Department,the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, hospitals, churches, businesses, and other agencies are actively engaging with this target population to address the increase in criminal activity and improve the lives of those without homes; and WHEREAS, Homeless Task Force is requesting funds to help defray costs necessary to support its outreach and engagement, which include fees for acquiring birth certificates and personal identification, as well as purchasing trash bags, gloves, food, hygiene products, clothing, diapers, baby food, gas, medical equipment and supplies,temporary emergency housing cost, and transportation cost affecting the homeless population; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to improve the criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with other criminal justice agencies and the community; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Homeless Task Force for its outreach and engagement efforts.
