STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 98 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOMELESS TASK <br /> FORCE FOR ITS OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS. <br /> WHEREAS, Homeless Task Force is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission <br /> is to provide outreach and engagement services to address homelessness in our community; and <br /> WHEREAS, outreach and engagement are essential services that inform and connect our <br /> un-housed population on safe haven options for housing, drug and alcohol rehabilitation services, <br /> and family reunification; and <br /> WHEREAS, Homeless Task Force in collaboration with social services organizations, <br /> the Hawai`i Police Department,the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, hospitals, churches, <br /> businesses, and other agencies are actively engaging with this target population to address the <br /> increase in criminal activity and improve the lives of those without homes; and <br /> WHEREAS, Homeless Task Force is requesting funds to help defray costs necessary to <br /> support its outreach and engagement, which include fees for acquiring birth certificates and <br /> personal identification, as well as purchasing trash bags, gloves, food, hygiene products, <br /> clothing, diapers, baby food, gas, medical equipment and supplies,temporary emergency <br /> housing cost, and transportation cost affecting the homeless population; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to improve the <br /> criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with other <br /> criminal justice agencies and the community; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Homeless Task Force for its outreach and engagement <br /> efforts. <br />
