The BioAstin supplements, valued at approximately $15,620.90, will be utilized by the ocean lifeguard staff to support their physical fitness and health and these hats, valued at approximately $496.00 will help to decrease sun exposure. REQUEST: Requesting a Resolution for the acceptance of a donation of 5 bottles of BioAstin per Ocean Safety employee from Cyanotech B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): • Due to the physical nature of the job of a Water Safety Officers, and the importance of staying. physically fit and healthy, in an effort to help to support that need, Cyanotech (makers of BioAstin) has graciously offered to donate a years worth supply of BioAstin to each Water Safety Officer.. They agreed to donate five (5) bottles of 75 count BioAstin 12MG vegan formula bottles per working ocean lifeguard, or a total of approximately three hundred and ten (310) bottles. The estimated retail value is $15,620.90. The estimated retail value may increase or decrease over time. Cyanotech will also donate one (hat) per working ocean lifeguard, or approximately sixty-two (62) hats. The hats will have the Hawaii Fire Department Ocean Safety Logo on it and will be authorized to be used as their duty uniform which will help to decrease sun exposure to their heads and faces. The estimated retail value for the hats are $496.00. The estimated retail value may increase or decrease over time. This first time offer will cover a period of 1 calendar year, and at that point, Cyanotech will determine if they would like to continue the offer or end it. Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on Finance for placement on its future agenda.
